CPR / First Aid administered to 19 month old Aiden King

Scottsville Police Department is constantly conducting training so we may better serve our community. Just two weeks ago we conducted our re-certification training for CPR / First Aid. This training paid off on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 05:03 A.M. when, Scottsville 9-1-1 received a call from 517 E. Poplar Street advising a 19 month old child was not breathing. Sgt. James Talbott , Officer John Williams and Deputy Brandon Lovett responded and Sgt. Talbott immediately started CPR and first aid to clear the child’s airway both Deputy Lovett and Officer Williams stated the child was turning blue and was cold to the touch when the officers arrived on scene. Sgt. Talbott was able to clear the child’s airway and get little 19 month old Aiden breathing on his on before EMS arrived. The child was transported to TJ Sampson by Allen County EMS and Later to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. Little Aiden was released to go home later that evening.I feel without the first aid that Sgt Talbott administered 19 month old Aiden King may have not survived. The SPD has presented Sgt. Talbott a certificate of appreciation and he has been nominated to receive the SPD Lifesaving medal which will be presented at the SPD Awards Ceremony in May, 2020. Aiden's parents Nicholas and Misty King signed consent for the SPD to release Sgt. Talbott's body cam video and the photo of little Aiden and his parents when they stopped by the police department after Aiden had been released from Vanderbilt.
